I am His

“I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them."

JOHN 17:6-8

To belong to Jesus - is to entirely - by choice - give all to him. The act of giving your life to Jesus is hard. It is to forsake all that you have learned and seen for the unseen. It is to allow the Spirit given to you in acceptance and baptism of your Lord to permeate into and through your entire being.

The journey to oneness with Christ is not easy - Jesus and his original 12 had a hard time. At Pentecost the Holy Spirit was poured out giving magnificent power to all those who accepted truth. The same opportunity exists today.

Jesus already conquered. He is already here.

A disciple belongs to Jesus. It is the understanding that you do not belong to yourself but rather to the Lord that is the call of the missionary. I am not mine but have been made and prepared for the purpose of Jesus - such that his light is seen and his way is known.

Jesus did not send any of his followers out into the world to speak about him until after his death and resurrection. First, he proved he was God as the grave could not keep him. Then, after his resurrection he gave The Holy Spirit to his followers at Pentecost.

"The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD, and He will delight in the fear of the Lord."

You have been chosen by Jesus as his own special possession. The disciple belongs to Christ and Jesus himself looks after him for you are his witness. The mission is not about what the Lord has done for you - but knowing that you are his and he is living his will through you.
