Persevere In Weakness

Elijah was afraid and ran for his life... He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.

All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”

1 KINGS 19:3-5

In weakness you are made strong. Depression is a very real side effect of weakness. To be made whole in God - he rids us of our very selves so that he can take up full residence in our bodies. In this removal - weakness follows, pain, depression.

However, it is this specific time when the Lord fills us new. You cannot pour new wine into an old wine-skin, you will ruin the wine. No - you must pour new wine into new wine-skins and be made whole. The wine is the spirit - the new spirit - our bodies are the wine-skins - to be new - you must be new in Jesus Christ.

The Angel did not deliver a long and profound message to Elijah - No - the Angel simply said, "Get up and eat." Get up for the Lord and the Lord will fill you with his power - strength and wisdom. At once you begin to hear the small simple voice of God directing your steps - be obedient and the Lord will remove your depression and replace it with his Spirit which always gives love and hope.
