When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.
JOHN 21:15-17
In your death to sin you spring a new life of discipleship and devotion to Jesus Christ. Through that devotion death to sin is the fallen corn. In the death of a single stalk of corn you spring infinitely in seeding your rebirth in Christ.
In your rebirth the Lord asks his sheep to be fed. Give life in speaking the spirit inside all God's creation. This is discipleship. Do not be caught in the idea of Jesus Christ but rather rightly fixate yourself to the one who gives life. Many Christians can get stuck in the notion that once you know the name Jesus, the work is complete in you. To accept Jesus is to acknowledge him as Lord of the living, giver of salvation and forgiver of all sin. It is to accept that Jesus came because God so loved the world, he gave his only son, such that whoever believes in him will not die but have everlasting life.
Jesus asks for devotion. He will give you life everlasting - but you must choose for his life to be lived in you because HE is the life. You cannot choose Jesus and continue in your own ways and ambitions. This is choosing the world. This is the truth of the world. This is the truth of Christ Jesus.
