"Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?"
ROMANS 6:16
Jesus is the overcomer - He is the word manifested into flesh. He is more than a conqueror. He is all in all. Sovereign over every single thing. Jesus is the answer to everything. He is the way. He is the answer.
Remove yourself - your feeling - your - "I" statements. That is you - allowing yourself to shine through the flesh is slavery - self-imposed. Through the spirit of Jesus - All things are possible - He will overcome for you - he already did it. You must believe - call on Jesus and be set free. He is truth - he is life. Jesus Christ is the way.
Choosing sinful pleasures by choice create addictions to sinful ways. Addictions and habits that are chosen are not easily broken - and will not be broken without Christ. Jesus is what allows your mind and flesh to be obedient and set free from sin. You must keep guard of your mind so that you are not weak in the flesh in the moment a demanding thought or compulsion enters into you.
Obedience is not difficult - but rather a choice. You are always obedient to certain people - certain habits - self pleasures. Obedience to Christ is obedience to love - a commitment against sin. A lukewarm person is one that knows who Jesus is and what he asks - but chooses sin and self before the risen Lord. Lukewarm following is not faith - nor will your new fruit be born as you have not chosen a new life by obedience. Faith is being obedient to what is known but not seen - Faith is placing yourself and your desires second to the one that provides new life.
Take hold of what truly directs you and guides you - allow Jesus to help you and take you down his path - a different path than you currently walk and make choices. Seek the Lord's counsel in all decisions and have faith that the choices you make for him and with him lead to a new life - a life free of addiction and compulsive actions that keep you in self-slavery.
"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." James 1:22
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7
"Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” John 14:21
